Service Description

Monthly creative process workshops for writers, visual artists and creators of all stripes.  Influenced by Natalie Goldberg's method of timed writing practice, Amherst Writing Workshop's prompted writing, improv techniques and games, embodiment work, shamanic journeying and Buddhist dharma art practices. We will write or draw or paint (you choose your medium), meditate, move mindfully, and play games in order to relax into the abundant creative space that already exists within the non-thinking wisdom of our bodies. Spontaneous Creativity: Medicine Wheel merges my two passions, creative process and shamanic process. The generative prompts will be related to the transformative work of the four directions of the medicine wheel, and we (or our characters, our poems, our images, our stories, our life visions) will work the directions sequentially, one direction per quarter, starting in the direction of the South. The South is the province of Satchamama, great snake mother. It is the direction of material reality, survival, and the body, where we learn to shed the past the way the snake sheds her skin: all at once.
